Homemade White Bread recipe — fluffy inside, golden outside

Homemade White Bread recipe

🧂 Ingredients

500 g (4 cups) all-purpose flour

1 packet (7 g) instant yeast

2 tbsp sugar

1 tsp salt

250 ml (1 cup) warm milk

50 ml (¼ cup) warm water

2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

1 egg (optional, for richer texture)

🔥 Instructions

1. Activate the yeast

In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until it becomes foamy. That means the yeast is alive and ready to party 🎉

2. Make the dough

In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the foamy yeast mixture, warm milk, butter, and the egg (if using). Stir until the dough starts to come together.

3. Knead it

Knead the dough for about 10 minutes — until it’s smooth and elastic. If it sticks too much, add a little flour (but not too much, or it’ll turn dry).

4. First rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour — or until it doubles in size.

5. Shape the dough

Punch down the dough (gently, not like you’re mad at it 😆). Roll it into a log shape and place it into a greased loaf pan.

6. Second rise

Cover again and let it rest for another 30–45 minutes until it puffs up nicely.

7. Bake

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 25–30 minutes until the top turns golden brown.

8. Cool and enjoy

Let it cool a bit before slicing. Spread butter on a warm slice and just… wow.

💡 Tips

For extra softness: replace 2 tbsp of milk with sweetened condensed milk.

Want it more fragrant? Add a few drops of vanilla extract.

If you like crusty bread, brush the top with melted butter right after baking.
